25th anniversary - enlightened border
Berlin never glowed this way!
To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall the city of Berlin devised something very special. A course of 15 km was decorated with 8.000 balloons to visualize the former border line between East- and West-Berlin.
The illumination of the border line started at East Side Gallery and took its course further on Checkpoint Charlie, Brandenburg Gate, the Berlin main station, the "Mauerpark" to "Bornholmer Straße".
That weekend you had the feeling that not only the citizens of Berlin took a walk through the city. People from all over the world came to the German capital to solemnise this breathtaking moment of history.
In the evening of november the 9th 2014 around 7:20 p.m. the agleamed helium balloons were released by their adopters (e.g. Michail Gorbatschow and Tom Hanks). Thus the former border line was dissolved - a typical Berlin experience. Pure emotion!
To grade up this amazing event a lot of national as well as international musicians (e.g. Udo Lindenberg, Peter Gabriel, Die Fantastischen Vier) were perform on a huge stage in front of the Brandenburg Gate.
It was a fantastic, exiting and partly very emotional weekend. Contemporary witnesses were among the promenaders and some narrated their touching stories. A lot of experiences were shared - all different - but authentic, real and each affective. You got the feeling to share something very special again.
