Visit Berlin in the Long Night of Museums
From a small idea into a major event. On the last Saturday in January and August up to 120 museums, art collections, archives and memorials open until well into the night to the public.
In Berlin invented, the Long Night of Museums is now held in many other German cities. Since 1997, over 100 open exhibition spaces, galleries and memorials open their doors in Berlin to the public until very late. On the evening before the International Museum Day, it is celebrated in front of the Berlin palace and other cultural institutions. Be there and enjoy this major cultural event with different offers and programs.
Experience culture at the Long Night of Museums in Berlin
In order to reach the venues quickly and easily, the participating cultural institutions are providing shuttle buses on seven routes. A major connection point is at the Kulturforum at Potsdamer Platz, where 6 bus routes come together and you can visit among others, the Museum of Decorative Arts or the Copper Plate Gallery. The seventh bus tour opens up the southern part of Berlin and there discover the Planetarium, the Energy Museum and the Memorial at Marienfelde. If you are interested in history, you can visit the famous Pergamon Museum, the New and the Old Museum on the Spree Island and the German Historical Museum on Kupfergraben. Art lovers will love the Old and New National Gallery and the Picture Gallery.
Programme and Accommodation
The Long Night of Museums in Berlin offers the extended museum entrance and a colorful supporting program, which is aimed at families. First and foremost are the children's museum Labyrinth in Wedding district and the Machmit! (join in) Museum at Prenzlauer Berg. Here are craft activities and exciting demonstrations on the program. Adults can expect at various venue dance and theater performances, readings and concerts.
